Overview
Brooklands Park is a large fictional 00 gauge layout set in the BR Eastern reigon, consisting of the large through station of Brooklands Park, the associated facilities and a section of countryside. While the layout was first exhibited over 20 years ago, it is still going strong, and is even currently undergoing a major rebuild to increase the layouts operating potential and capacity of the fiddle yard, which had always been a problem.
Brooklands Park is one of the only current club layouts to have been exhibited, and has even gone as far as to win the "Best in Exhibition" trophy at the X show.
The layout is approximately
X ft by
X ft, which means that it is able to accomodate even the largest 13 coach trains. However, there are not just passenger trains to be found on the layout, as the large goods yard and engine shed complete with turntable provide a large amount of operating potential. The layouts busy mainline location simply serves to enhance this operating potential, providing excuses for the running of even the most eccentric of trains!
Much of the layout is currently under heavy reconstruction, which is aimed to improve it's operational potential, and renovate areas such as the main Brooklands Park station.
